Sébastien Ogier led Rally Finland from the opening forest stage on Friday until his Toyota went off the road at speed on SS17 and rolled into the trees, and the rally he had controlled turned into a home celebration. Sami Pajari won by 26.7 seconds for his second victory in two weeks, the win that made it Finland’s 200th in the championship, with Ari Vatanen waiting at the stop line to meet him. Ogier was airlifted to hospital and Julien Ingrassia taken by ambulance; the checks came back positive, and both stayed overnight under observation after the heavy impact. Toyota locked out the podium, Oliver Solberg second and Elfyn Evans third after repairing a Saturday roll, and Evans leaves Finland 30 points clear.

In Wisconsin, IMSA ran Road America over six hours for the first time, and the debut took nine full-course cautions and finished under the safety car. Wayne Taylor Racing ended a drought of more than two years to win it, Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor putting the No. 10 Cadillac back on top of the GTP class for the first time since Detroit in June 2024, a late post-race penalty to a rival tidying the podium behind them. Formula 1 stays dark until the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, which opens on the 21st and races on the 23rd; the entries below go deeper on both of the weekend’s races, then into the shutdown’s business.

A freight problem, not a race result, just cut the WEC title fight to 104 points
The FIA swapped Barcelona and Monza in for Qatar and Bahrain to close 2026, forced by the conflict in the Middle East. Trading two rounds worth 1.5 times the points for standard six-hour races dropped the drivers’ points still on offer from 130 to 104, and the arithmetic favours whoever is already leading.
